Douglas Ray
Douglas A.Ray is the founder of Ray Claims Consulting, a highly regarded property loss consulting firm based in Norristown, PA and Hilton Head Island, SC. With over 45 years of experience in the claims industry, Douglas has established himself as an acknowledged expert and professional in the field of property loss estimating.
Douglas' journey in the industry began in December 1976 when he started working as an Estimator/Project Manager at F.B. Davis Sons Inc. in Bala Cynwyd, PA. Throughout his career, he has held various positions with reputable companies, including BELFOR USA, Rolyn Companies and GGG/Atlantic Estimating. Notably, he achieved the position of Senior Property Loss Estimator/Large Loss Specialist for GGG, the largest Public Adjusting Company on the East Coast.
His expertise spans a wide range of areas, including site inspections, scope of loss takeoff, and accurate dimensioning. With over 22 years of experience using Xactimate estimating software, he has produced comprehensive estimates for mitigation and reconstruction losses caused by fire, windstorm, hurricane, tornado, hail, microburst, and water damages. Douglas Earned his Construction Management Degree at Spring Garden College in Philadelphia, PA. Douglas has been actively involved in major hurricanes since 1989, providing reconstruction estimates for catastrophic property losses.
I specialize in producing accurate, comprehensive property damage restoration estimates for Public Adjusters and Property Owners. Many PA’s rely on in-house personnel to create estimates for their claims, but their knowledge of construction and their training and expertise with xactimate is often lacking.
In comparison, I have been producing building restoration estimates for over 45 years, utilizing Xactimate since 2001. Starting in 1977 with a General Contractor specializing in Fire Restoration, I produced estimates and acted as project manager for a variety of major fire restoration projects. This experience gave me valuable insight into how to properly restore damaged properties and how to use this knowledge in the estimating process.
In following years I produced property damage estimates for Insurance Carriers, including most major hurricanes beginning with Hurricane Hugo in 1989. In 2008 I began working for Public Adjusters, and soon advanced to the position of Senior Estimator/Large Loss Specialist for Goodman, Gable, Gould, the largest Public Adjuster on the East Coast.
I started my claims consulting business in 2016, working in the PA/NJ/DE region as well as handling hurricane losses and appraisals in the USVI,South Carolina and Florida for various clients.
I look to build on my reputation and recent success in securing new Public Adjuster clients in South Carolina, Florida and the USVI, and will continue to produce property restoration estimates of the highest quality.
